1993 GRAND AM WAS INVOLVED IN ACCIDENT. THE CAR WAS HIT IN THE FRONT RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE. THEN IT CAUGHT FIRE FROM THE FRONT OF VEHICLE. *JB
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND CONSUMER TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. A NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE FRONT. CONSUMER LIFTED UP THE HOOD, AND VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THEN, DROVE IT TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION, MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A RECALL ISSUED DID NOT INCLUDE THIS VEHICLE DUE TO VIN. *AK

MY BROTHER'S (JOHN STURGILL) 1993 PONTIAC GRAND AM CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED TO THE GROUND WITH THE IGNITION OFF. MY BROTHER HAD JUST DRIVEN THE CAR HOME FROM WORK. HE TURNED OFF THE IGNITION WENT INTO HIS HOME. JUST 10 MINTUES LATER HIS WIFE SAW SMOKE COMING BY THE WINDOW. THEY IMMEDIATELY WALKED OUTSIDE AND SAW THE CAR COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THEY CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PUT OUT THE FIRE BUT THE CAR BURNED TO THE GROUND. THE FIRE DAMAGED THE OUTER VINYL SIDING ON 2 SIDES OF THE HO

ON AUG 25,2002 MY DAUGHTER WAS ON THE WAY TO THE STORE AND A TRUCK PULLED IN FRONT OF HER.SHE HIT THE TRUCK ON THE PASSERNER SIDE AND THE GRAND AM WAS HIT ON THE RIGHT SIDE .SHE WAS GOING ABOUT 40 MILES A HOUR AND IT TOTALED THE CAR AND DID DAMAGE TO THE FORD PICKUP.THE STEERING WHEEL WAS BEND .THE RIGHT SIDE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED .SHE WAS INJURED SHE HIT HER HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND IT BEND HER KNEE AND LEG AND ARMS WHERE HURT AS WAS HER CHEST .THE COMPLAINT WE HAVE IS THAT THE BAC

WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE RIGHT FRONT SIDE OF VEHICLE WENT DOWN TOWARDS THE GROUND, DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE, AND VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER, POLICE REPORTED THAT FROM INPRINTS IN THE GRASS RIGHT PASSENGER TIRE WAS FLAT AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT. *AK. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH REAR AXLE BROKE, CAUSING A CRASH. WHEEL WAS FOUND ATTACHED WITH LUGS: NUTS/TIRE AND ROD A FEW FEET AWAY FROM VEHICLE.*AK
AFTER STARTING THE IGNITION, I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM FUSE BOX, BURNING PLASTIC DRIPPED ONTO THE CARPET, IGNITING ENTIRE INTERIOR. FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, PUT OUT FIRE. TOTAL LOSS. NO PREVIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS.*AK
CAUSE OF FIRE IS UNKNOWN. CAR WAS STARTED AND FLAMES BLEW OUT OF BOTTOM, SIDE, & TOP OF ENGINE. *AK

I WAS DRIVING APX. 25-30 MPH ON SLUSH COVERED ROADS. I SAW THE CAR AHEAD OF ME BRAKING, SO I STARTED TO APPLY STEADY PRESSURE. I WAS APX 8-10 CAR LENGTHS BEHIND, BUT I STARTED TO SLIDE. SO APPLIED MORE FIRM PRESSURE, STILL NOTHING. SO FINALLY I REALIZED MY BRAKES WERE NOT DO ANYTHING SO I PUSHED THEM TO THE FLOOR AND SLOWLY TURNED THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT, TO GO IN THE DITCH. I CONTINUED TO SLIDE. MY ABS DID NOT WORK AT ALL. SOMEHOW MY CAR SLID LEFT AND I ENDED UP IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC WHERE
THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT GOT FIRE UNEXPECTEDLY WITH NO ELECTRICAL PROBLEM BEFORE INCIDENT. SMELL ELECTRICAL BURNING AFTER THE INCIDENT. THERE WAS NO FUEL OR OTHER LEAKING. TOTAL LOSS AFTER THREE MINUTES OF QUICK EXTINGUISHED BY USING FIRE EXHINGUISHERS. INSURANCE DECLARED TOTALED LOSS. THE PARTS SHOWED A LOT OF FLAMMABLE PLASTIC PARTS AND WIRINGS. THIS IS NOT PROPER DESIGNED AS ALL THE WIRINGS WERE INTERGRATED IN ONE CABLE.
WHILE DRIVING SMOKE AND A BURNING SMELL CAME FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHICH CAUSED A FIRE. DEALER COULD NOT DETERMINE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK

AFTER BEING DRIVEN APPROX. 20 MINUTES, THEN PARK, VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT NEAR FIRE WALL.
(IN REFERENCE TO 93V153; THE DEFECTIVE IGNITION SWITCH MALFUNCTIONED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO START ON ITS OWN WITHOUT THE KEY IN IGNITION AND CAUSED A FIRE. *AK
