DT: CONSUMER STATED: IT WAS NIGHT, COLD OUTSIDE, AND WHILE DRIVING SMELLED BURNING RUBBER. PULLED OVER, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, OPENED HOOD BEDORE HOOD WAS COMPLETED OPENED, CONSUMER COULD SEE FLAMES BURNING AND THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR PULLEY WAS SO HOT THAT IT WAS GLOWING RED. THE BELT ATTACHED TO THE COMPRESSOR WAS BURNING. *AK THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE DAMAGING THE COMPRESSOR AND BELT(S) AND LIKELY OTHER A/C COMPONENTS. *NM CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO PUT OUT FIRE. I HAD A LOW IMPACT ACCIDENT WHERE THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE HIT THE BACK OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. (FORGOT TO PUT CAR IN PARK AND WAS ABOUT 4 FEET FROM BACK OF ANOTHER CAR ON SLIGHT GRADE, WELL YOU KNOW THE REST).*AK AFTER THE ACCIDENT THE SLIDING DOOR BEGAN TO "POP" ENOUGH FOR THE AJAR DOOR LIGHT TO COME ON BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR THE DOOR TO ACTUALLY OPEN. I HAVE CHECKED WITH THE PEOPLE THAT GAVE ESTIMATES ON REPAIRS AND WAS INFORMED BY EVERY ONE THAT IT WAS NOT A RESULT OF THE ACCIDENT. WHAT I CAN NOT
WHEN THE CONSUMER TRIED TO CLOSE THE DOOR, THE SENSOR FAILED AND THE SLIDING DOOR CLOSED ON THE CONSUMER HAND. *JB

THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE RECALL 00V-419 PERFORMED, BUT THE DEALER DID NOT HAVE THE PARTS AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR AND WAS PUT ON A WAITING LIST, THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHCILE WAS STILL SAFE TO OPERATE UNTIL THE PARTS CAME IN, BUT PRIOR TO THE PARTS COMING IN THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED (FRANKLIN INSURANCE COMPANY). WHEN CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH ENGINE STARTED JUMPING. THEN, CAUGHT ON FIRE JUST LIKE IT SAID IN RECALL. *AK THE VEHICLE HAD EXHAUST LEAK AT THE MANIFOLD. RECALL 00V419002/ FUEL TANK VENT HOSE, RECEIVED LETTER ON 17 FEB 2001. AT THAT TIME CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY DEALER PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE YET. ON FEB 26 2001, CONSUMER STARTED VEHICLE, AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES THERE WAS SMOKE . THEN FIRE STARTED UNDER HOOD. DEALER DENIES THIS COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY FUEL TANK VENT HOSE. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION AT 45MPH. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY, RESULTING IN MINOR INJURIES.*AK

AFTER TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH FOR THE SECOND TIME THERE WAS AN EXPLOSION UNDER THE HOOD. THE ENTIRE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT ON FIRE. FROM LOOKING AT THE HOOD, IT APPEARED THAT ONE OF THE HOTTEST POINTS WAS OVER THE BATTERY AREA. EVERYTHING FORWARD OF FIREWALL WAS TOTALLY BURNED. THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK

CONSUMER'S WIFE WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY WHEN HEAVY RAIN COMMENCED. DRIVER STARTED TO ROLL UP WINDOW WHEN WINDOW STOPPED JUST BEFORE IT REACHED THE TOP. DRIVER'S HAND WAS CAUGHT BETWEEN THE FRAME AND THE WINDOW, TRYING TO GET THE WINDOW UP. DRIVER RECEIVED MINOR CUTS WHILE TRYING TO FREE HER HAND FROM THE WINDOW. VEHICLE WAS IN THE DEALER SHOP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS BEFORE THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED. CODITION WAS NEVER RESOLVED. *AK
