DAIMLER/CHRYSLER IS MY FORMER EMPLOYER AND I WORKED THERE AS AN ENGINEER. DURING MY TENURE THERE, I WORKED CLOSELY WITH THE GROUP THAT NOW HAS AS ITS MEMBERS, THE CORPORATIONS EXPERT WITNESS DEFENDING THE CORPORATION IN LAW SUITS RELATED TO THESE CRASHES. THIS SAME GROUP

MY 1992 JEEP CHEROKEE HAS JUMPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE ON TWO OCCASIONS THIS YEAR. ON THE FIRST OCCASION, THE CAR SMASHED INTO MY BACK STEPS CAUSING ABOUT $500 DAMAGE TO THE STEPS AND $1250 DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. I HAD BEEN IN THE CAR AND EXITED TO RETRIEVE SOMETHING FROM THE GARAGE. THE CAR WAS IDLING IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN SUDDENLY IT STARTED MOVING BACKWARDS TOWARD THE HOUSE. WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF, I FOUND THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE, NOT PARK. I WOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN ABLE TO EXIT THE CAR IF I
SUDDEN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION (UA) - TURNING RIGHT IN SERVICE STATION; ACCELERATOR WENT ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. ALMOST NO BRAKES. BARELY MISSED GAS PUMPS AND GAS DELIVERY TANKER. GOT ON STRAIGHTAWAY AND TURNED OFF IGNITION, STOPPING WITH AID OF PARKING BRAKE. JEEP SERVICE DEPT. REPORTED NOTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE --"MUST HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY FLOOR MAT". THE PROBLEM IS OBVIOUSLY IN THE CRUISE CONTROL AS IT IS THE ONLY DEVICE THAT CAN PULL THE ACCELERATOR CABLE TO WIDE OPEN THROTTLE. HAVE DISCONNECT

VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION RESULTING IN ACCIDENT AND INJURY TO CONSUMER.
VEHICLE ROLLED OVER ONTO THE SIDE BECAUSE OF FAULTY BRAKES. DRIVER DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AT 35MPH, AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT GO DOWN TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS VERY STIFF. THE ROAD WAS FLAT WITH A LITTLE UP GRADE, IT WASN'T A HILL. THE VEHICLE ROLLED ACROSS THE INTERSECTION AT FULL SPEED WHILE THE DRIVER BLEW THE HORN TO INFORM THE OTHER DRIVERS THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STOPPED. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR APPROX. 8 HOURS. MAIN ENGINE COMPUTER SPONTANEOUSLY BEGAN TO EMIT SMOKE AND BURN. FIRE WENT OUT WHEN BATTERY WAS DISCONNECTED.

CONSUMER'S PARENTS WERE DRIVING ON FAMILIAR ROAD WHEN THEY REACHED THE STOP SIGN. WITH FRIENDS TRAILING FROM BEHIND, THEY NEVER STOPPED, INSTEAD VEHICLE PROCEEDED ACROSS ROAD HEAD-ON INTO BARRIERS, KILLING BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER INSTANTLY.
