On or about May 1, 2025, I was operating my 2013 Hyundai Veloster when flames were observed emanating from under the hood. I immediately pulled into the median and, upon opening the hood, observed an active fire beneath the plastic engine cover. I contacted 911. Smoke, burning smell came from ac control unit. Ac wiring unit, knob completely burned/melted. Reported to Hyundai local and corporate office no resolution other then I just have to replace the unit. Please note this happened in 2022 (40,000 miles today vehicle had 58,000miles) and I paid in full for the replacement the 1st time.

Car started smoking on cabin while driving. Risk of hazard dueto bad A/C control switch. Wiring harness and plug melted too. Several Hyundai Veloster are suffering same issue. Started to think blower wiring is to small for load too. Pleaae see attached pictures. Time and miles provided is an approximate. Do not remember when exactly happened but was reported previously. I have had the ABS checked by Hyundai dealership per recall and they told me there was no issues, but I’m having a lot of problems with accelerating, and it shifting gears, I don’t think the system is really diagnosing, whenever I turn my car on sometimes it will do a diagnostic read, but it can’t send data, and it will take a while for the system to reset itself. It does smell like my car is smoking and I will have to physically roll my window down and/or poke my head out the window to ma

1. 2013 Veloster 1.6 turbo motor fire. Motor blew and fire burned everything.Inspection is time framed as I was sent lein and storage fees. Climate control switch melted and caused a small fire. I had to pull my dash apart very quicky to put it out. The Hyundai dealership would not help me even though a 2014 Elantra and Veloster has had technical service bulletins regarding this issue. They charged me 200$ dollars to tell me the switch melted even though I had already pulled it apart and showed them the issue. I spoke to Hyundai USA about it and they did not help me either. The blower for the AC and heater stopped working. It evidently caught fire because there is a burnt smell. When I searched the problem, I noticed that you already did a recall for this but left out the 2013 models. This is extremely dangerous as it could catch fire while driving. Please add the 2013s to the recall.

Engine was producing a ticking noise for about half a day before the check engine light came on. The check engine light was on for one day before I noticed the vehicle starting to stall out. The engine caught on fire after stalling out.

DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMETHING FLEW UNDER MY CAR AND SUDDENLY STARTED SMOKING AND A FLAME CAME OUT. THERE WAS LOUD BANGING UNDER THE HOOD: LIKE A BOOM. WE PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY BEFORE IT COMPLETELY DIED AND IT CAUGHT SPARKS. WE DO NOT HAVE ANY PHOTOS SINCE THIS HAPPENED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT.
