This accident didnât involve myself. It involved my father who borrowed my 2011 Ford Flex for the evening. This was a one vehicle accident. It is unknown what happened to cause him to Swerve and hit a hit. The air bags didnât deploy in the Vehicle. My father was wearing his seatbelt. THE STEERING RACK AND PINION WENT OUT ON MY 2011 FORD FLEX. THE IS A RECALL ON FORD FLEX 2011-2013 BUT FORD KEEPS TELLING US IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY!!! WE HAD THIS REPLACED AND IT WENT OUT AGAIN 4 MONTHS LATER. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD.

THE REAR AUTOMATIC LIFTGATE WAS UP AND I WAS LEANING INTO THE BACK OF THE FLEX REINSTALLING MY CARGO NET WHEN THE HYDRAULICS FAILED AND THE LIFTGATE CAME SLAMMING DOWN ON MY BACK. I SUSTAINED BRUISING AND MUSCLE INJURY. IF IT WAS MY ARM OR LEG IT MIGHT HAVE RESULTED IN AN AMPUTATION. IF IT WAS MY HEAD / NECK IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FATALITY. ONE OF MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTERS STOOD NEAR THE BACK BUMPER AREA AND RECEIVED A BURN TO HER LEG FROM ONE OF THE EXHAUST PIPES CREATING A C SHAPE IMPRINT OF THE TAILPIPE OPENING.
