VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LIGHT DUTY PICKUP TRUCKS AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH VACUUM POWER, 4-WHEEL DISC BRAKES. THESE VEHICLES FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 105, "HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEMS." THESE VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH A KINKED BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM SUPPLY HOSE.

TRUCK WENT THROUGH RED LIGHT AND THROUGH INTERSECTION OF A SECTION OF HIGHWAY THAT IS 8 LANES WIDE. IF NOT FOR EARLY TIME OF DAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A LOT MORE TRAFFIC AND KILLED SOMEONE. STOPPED TRUCK BY SLAMMING INTO PARK. NO BRAKE WARNING LIGHT PRIOR TO THIS OR AFTER.

HE HIT THE FRONT HARD ENOUGH TO TOTAL THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK AND SHOVE THE ENGINE BACK SEVERAL INCHES. THE FRAME IS ALSO BENT. WE BELIEVE THE TRUCK WILL BE QUALIFIED AS TOTALLED. DISPITE THE FORCE OF THE IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CRAIG HAD HIS SEAT BELT ON SO WAS ONLY BRUISED AND SORE AFTER THE ACCIDENT. WE ARE CONSERNED WITH THE AIRBAG FAILURE.
