YEAR : 1994 COMPONENT : ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:WIRING MY 1994 LUMINA APV STARTED TO SMOKE IN THE STEERING COLUMN ON 2 OCCASIONS. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION KEY AND IT STOPPED. I TURNED IT BACK FORWARD TO THE ON POSITION WITHOUT STARTING THE VEHICLE AND IT DID NOT SMOKE THEN, BUT WHEN I WENT AHEAD AND STARTED THE V
THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED AND THE BRAKES "LOCKED UP". CONSUMER COLLIDED WITH A TREE.
BRAKES SEEM TO GIVE OUT WHEN COMING TO A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC LIGHT. *AK
VEHICLE WIRE HARNESS LOCATED UNDERNEATH DASHBOARD HAS WORN DOWN FROM NORMAL VEHICLE MOVEMENT. WIRE HARNESS HAS NO SHIELD OR PROTECTION, AND MADE CONTACT WITH BODY FRAME. THIS SHORTED VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OUT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START VEHICLE, AND CAUSED A FIRE IN THE FUSEABLE LINK, IGNITION AND DESTROYED OTHER ASSORTED WIRES. FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE AGENCY (ALLSTATE), AND CLAIM WAS DENIED BECAUSE THEY FELT IT WAS A FACTORY DEFECT. ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT GMC CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER
WHEN OPENING AND CLOSING REAR DOOR IT HAS SHARP CONERS. VEHICLE'S OWNER WAS CUT AND HAD TO RECEIVE 6 STICHES DUE TO BEING HIT. PLEASE DESCRIBE. *AK
